I'm an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I teach at the graduate and undergraduate level on a wide range of areas in philosophy.

Until recently, my research has been mainly about natural language semantics, ontology, and probability. Lately I have been thinking about many philosophical issues connected with the medium- to long-term future of humanity. I am also interested in the nature of rationality, and I'm writing a textbook on critical reasoning.

I am also the father of four amazing kids and the husband of one amazing woman, who is a wedding floral designer in Ann Arbor.
